LobbyIQ

About LobbyIQ

Software built from inside the work.

LobbyIQ exists because the people who represent several clients at once have been running their practices on email, memory, and late nights. The work deserves better tools than that.

Why it exists

Independent contract lobbyists and small firms do the same job as a corporate government affairs office — monitoring, analysis, client communication, advocacy — without the staff. One person tracks every bill, reads every amendment, drafts every update, and remembers every conversation, for every client, all session long.

Most software in this market was built for large organizations with teams to run it. It tracks legislation well and does almost nothing about the rest of the week: deciding what a change means for each client, telling them, and keeping a record of what was said and done.

LobbyIQ starts from the other end. It is built around the way an independent practice actually runs — client by client, with one person's judgment at the center — and takes on the work that surrounds that judgment so more of the week goes to advocacy.

What we believe

Every client gets full attention.

Work is organized by client first, so nothing you owe one of them is lost inside what you are doing for another.

Judgment stays with you.

LobbyIQ drafts, flags, and reminds. It never speaks for you. Nothing reaches a client until you have read it and chosen to send it.

The record keeps itself.

Emails, calls, hearings, and bill activity are logged as they happen, by client, so a report or an invoice is a summary of what already exists.

Software should know the process.

Legislative and regulatory work has its own rhythms and rules. LobbyIQ is built by people who have lived them, and it shows in the details.

Who's behind it

LobbyIQ was founded by David Lehman, principal of Primus Policy Group, a government relations firm in Boise, Idaho. David has worked in public policy for more than 25 years: as policy director to an Idaho governor, as senior advisor to the U.S. Secretary of the Interior, and since 2009 as a contract lobbyist representing clients in healthcare, education, natural resources, and economic development before the Idaho Legislature and state agencies.

LobbyIQ is the tool he wanted for his own practice. Now it can be the tool for yours.
